NATHAN BEECHEY plays THE HUNTER

The Hunter is an apparently stoic and sleek android hitman. His physical build is that of a young man with muscle in his early to mid-twenties, dressed in a trench coat, balaclava and vest. He is content with fulfilling the orders given to him by the organisation that owns him, making him, in his own eyes, the ideal hitman.

His purpose and worth are dependent on this core principle, and his android nature causes him to never sleep, eat or suffer illness. Living like this gives him a lack of humanity, but when he is forced to re-examine the nature of his orders, hints begin to emerge that suggest there is more to the Hunter.

LEON CHESWORTH plays MATT SKINNER

Matthew Skinner is a 24-year-old trade unionist activist; he is of average build with a general "nerd-ish" attitude. He is a man confident in his beliefs and a natural leader, yet he is anxious for his safety, being vocally against artificial intelligence. The paranoia has led him to command from the shadows and rely heavily on his connections to spread his thoughts. He may be vilified in the eyes of the Hunter, but Skinner is an honourable man with strong thoughts and feelings.

CREW

Director - NICHOLAS WHITE

As director, it was my role to ensure the workflow within the group was consistent and on track. I was greatly involved on set, giving directions to actors and the production team alike. I then worked very closely with our editors in post-production, constructing lists of pros and cons within each scene to offer constructive feedback.

Writer & Producer- WILLIAM KNOWLES

As writer and producer my roles were to provide an engaging narrative ripe in visual and audible content that our cast and crew could translate in compelling experimental techniques as well as ensure the production had the appropriate scheduling and measures to allow for shoots with minimal issue. It was a role with a heavy emphasis on pre-production but required constant engagement with the whole crew on both a creative and practical level.

Editor & Sound Design - BARRY O'BOYLE

As the editor and colour grader, I was tasked with creating unique visual flare, cutting together clear story beats that leave the film open to audience interpretation, all while staying within the confines of the experimental sci-fi thriller we set out to make, and keeping audiences entertained. I made decisions that would dictate the flow in which our story was told, and meticulously arranged the scenes so that the colour grading itself told a story of power and control.

Cinematography and Choreography - TORIN KEENEY

As the cinematographer my role was to create exciting and entertaining images for the audience, alongside the writer and director we created shots as closely as possible to the script and find compromises when this couldn't be achieved, I worked with the editors additionally to ensure that the correct shots were used throughout. As the choreographer I worked closely with the actors to properly block and light action scenes as well as contribute to the actors' performances.

Editor - MAX WHITEHOUSE

As Sound Designer and Editor, it was my job to ensure that the audio successfully conveyed our storytelling. I collected and implemented all the sounds, this ranged from horror stings, mechanically whirring, car doors closing, lights flickering, paper being folded as well as editing them into the film using Premiere pro, all to create the understanding of the atmosphere and the Hunter's mindset throughout the short film. In post-production, I mainly focused on audio and SFX transitions.

Sound - TOM MATTHEWS-JOHN

As one of the sound designers for the film it was my job to create and understand how music and sound affect the audience's interpretation of scenes and genre conventions. I personally went a recorded portfolio of sound effects that I then edited to be used in the film -the bone breaking sound was created when I sped up and pitch corrected myself biting into raw pasta. Additionally, I sampled online folly as well as music tracks and non-diegetic sound from other films – these samples were equally edited and changed as to be used within the film.
